ETC channel was launched on August 26th, 1999 as a 24-hour Indian Music Channel with the punch line "Aakhir Dil Hai Hindustani".Within a short span of six months ETC Networks Ltd. was rated as the No.1 Indian Music Channel. ETC was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange in May, 2000.

From Music to Entertainment

Pursuing it's ever growing quest to provide the best content to viewers, etc has constantly strived to provide wholesome family entertainment. The channel added a show on astrology which has become very popular and successful. To increase interactivity with the viewers channel has added Road Shows and SMS services.
Films and Indi Pop music still remains the heart of the channel and constitutes 95% of the programming".

Another No1 - ETC Channel Punjabi

ETC Channel Punjabi was launched on June 2000. Within a short span of four months ETC Channel Punjabi became the No1 Punjabi channel amongst stiff competition from other channels of it's genre. ETC Channel Punjabi has bagged exclusive rights for eleven years to telecast Gurbani Live from the Golden Temple, Amritsar.

ETC Networks Ltd. is only the second broadcasting network to break even in its first year of operations. Within a short span of time both the channels have already established a tradition for creating best of entertainment products and winning channels.

Milestones

ETC Channel, became the first channel to associate itself with big banner films to telecast exclusive promos and contests of these films on the channel. And though every other music channel is attempting to follow its footsteps, etc retains its exclusivity. Kahani Kismat Ki on etc , is the first ever program of any non mainline satellite channel to be featured as one of the Top Five programs on INTAM rating. This is also the first ever astrological program to complete over one thousand episodes.On June 2000, ETC Networks Ltd added etc Channel Punjabi to its Network. Within four months of its launch etc Channel Punjabi has achieved and maintained number one position amongst the Satellite Channels in Punjabi language.

ETC is the first channel ever to organise and telecast a Fusion Music show to promote world peace.
To go interactive with the its family of viewers etc went Hi Tech by starting SMS facility for most of its programs.
To cater to the channel's spirit of 'Akhir Dil Hai Hindustani', etc had brought in shows with anchors like Ustaad Zakir Hussain and top leading Hasya Kavi performing on the channel. Focus is also on live Indian events like the nine-day Navratri Dandiya.
Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain has debuted on television with ETC's show Taal.

To capture the very spirit of India, etc has come out with Essence of India, which is an extensive series of Fillers shot all over the country right from Kashmir to Andaman and etc Paathshala to get the rest of the country acquainted with peculiar regional slang
etc channel got listed as ETC Networks Limited at Bombay Stock Exchange.

In its first quarter the company has reported a Net Profit before tax of Rs. 1.08 Crores on revenues (net) of Rs. 7.58 Crores, against the Projected turnover of Rs. 70 Crores and a Profit After Tax of Rs. 12 Crores for the financial year 2000-2001. A sure enough reason to be proud of its achievements.

ETC Networks Ltd. has registered a PAT of 2.18 cr on a turnover of Rs. 18.67 crores for the half-year ended 30 September, 2000. The growth in PAT over the previous quarter ended 30 June, 2000 figure of Rs. 0.85 crores has been 57%. ETC Networks is only the second channel to break even in the 1st year of operations

ETC Networks Limited has registered a PAT (Profit After Tax) of Rs2.43crores on a turnover of Rs.53.82crores for the year ended March 31, 2001.

At a time when the entire broadcasting industry was finding it extremely difficult to maintain its existing revenue and profits levels, etc channel showed the way by sustaining the consistent growth with its objective to provide the viewers the best of the entertainment industry.
